Offline Mode

My home internet connection is Night surfing only. While working on the projects at day time, I cannot access the internet and so the SlimTimer. If there is an offline mode, just like Google Reader, I can run the Timer at daytime and sync it at Night time when I get the connection.

  1. I work entirely from my laptop and am occasionally without an internet connection. Having an offline mode for mobile workers like myself would be fantastic.

  2. you may want to look at adobe air for that.. its like an offline widget that can collect data and upon connection to the online host sync everything into your account.

  3. But you do need to program for Adobe Air, in the same way you need to program for Google Gears. I think Gears would do the job.

  4. +1

  5. It would be better for me to sync it with mobile phone, after using mobile phone off-line mode.

  6. I think this actually sort of works, if you dont close the timer window before going offline. Just leave it open when you put your computer to standby or sleep or leave it on. You can stop and start tasks an they will be synced back to slimtimer within ten minutes after you've got an Internetconnection again.

  7. Yeah, the key is "sort of". I've gone offline for several hours occassionally and came back online without slimtimer being closed, but end up losing data. I don't trust it.

  8. Google Gears

  9. I have a constant, high-speed connection but am finding the site a bit slow during regular (north american) business hours. Saving data to my hard drive and being able to sync at the end of the day would be awesome.
