go open source

As you learned with calendars, everyone has their own idea of how a timer application should work. I already have a closed-source timer app. and the inability to customize it is what makes me seek an alternative. Slimtimer looks nice, but without the ability to customize, there little point in trying it.

  1. I'm all for open source; but let these guys try to make a living from something they are passionate about. Open Source goes both ways: if you don't like this application build your own.

  2. I disagree, you can make a living with open source software. The correct motto btw is if you don't like this application make it better. It is collaborative instead of competitive. Of course, someone could still the codebase and start something else, but if that is the case it doesn't really mean they didn't like it , on the contrary? But if so, why use the copy if you can use the original?

  3. Agreed. It has widely been demonstrated that commerce and open source do not exclude each other. There is a huge variety of possibilities.

  4. That's true you can be Open Source and also live with it.
